What Counselling for Parents Is?
Support for you, not just your role as a parent.
Parenting asks a lot of us. More than most people talk about. More than any book or resource can fully prepare you for. Counselling for parents is a place to explore the emotional load, identity shifts, doubt, overwhelm, and relationship strain that can come with raising a child; from newborn to fledging and every stage in between.
This work includes parents, caregivers, grandparents raising grandchildren, foster parents, and anyone carrying the day‑to‑day weight of caring for a young person.
Sessions are available online or in person, held with the same steadiness and care either way.
Is Parenting Asking More Of You Than Anyone Talks About?
The doubt, exhaustion and quiet parts of parenting that need space to be seen, heard and understood.
The quiet parts of parenting that rarely make it into conversation.
Maybe it’s the guilt that shows up no matter what you choose. The overwhelm of being stuck in the parenting loop. Maybe it’s a strong‑willed kid, a teenager pulling away, or a blended family finding its footing. Maybe it’s the loneliness of parenting without support nearby. Maybe it’s the feeling of losing yourself and wondering what happened to who you were before becoming a parent. Maybe it’s the exhaustion of being “on” all the time. Maybe it’s the pressure to get it right when everything feels messy.
You don’t need a crisis to justify wanting support. You just need a place where the hard, ordinary moments of raising a child can be talked through without judgment, to be held in safety and trust.
What Working Together Looks Like
"My role is to help you find your inner wisdom and expertise, offering guidance, support and resources along your way. Connection first."
“The client holds the wisdom. My role is to help them find it.”
Hidden Valley Counselling stays a one‑person practice by design. When you book, you’re working with me, session after session, not moving through a lineup of providers.
I collaborate with the person in front of me and together we decide what therapy options fits best for them, I don’t run people through a formula. Parenting doesn’t follow a script, so our sessions don’t either.
We start from where you actually are. We notice the patterns underneath. We explore what’s been shaped by time and experience. We build skills you can use in real life, not just in the room. We make space for the parts of you that get quiet in the chaos of parenting, and find the space of connection first with yourself and then with your children and family.
This is counselling for the parent’s inner world, not just a checklist of parenting techniques.

Why Parents and Caregivers Choose to Work With Me
I'll walk through the Messiness of Parenting with you no holding back here, this is a safe space.
Collaborative, not prescriptive. You won't get a parenting checklist handed to you in session one. We build the work together, following what's ready to be looked at.
Rooted in real experience. I'm in my third year of private practice, with years of crisis support work before that and a Diploma of Applied Psychology and Clinical Counselling from KCPC. My designation provisional (MPCC-Provisional, CPCA), which is a fully licensed Clinical Counselling designation under direct supervision until provisional status is complete pending Fall 2026.
Accessible across most of Canada. I currently see clients In-person Lillooet, BC, virtually in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
Genuinely small. This is a solo practice. You're not passed between providers, you're working with me from the first conversation onward.

Not at all. Most of the parents and caregivers I work with aren't in crisis, they're carrying ordinary, everyday weight that deserves a place to be worked through. Although Crisis moments are welcome here too, sometimes life hands us more than we can hold all at once.
