My pathway into counselling was shaped by real life

My Path here wasn't a straight one, and it strengthened my ability to sit with real life for others

credentials are just part of my path

I've spent over 30 years with horses, in the saddle and on the ground through natural horsemanship and equine experiental work, even horse circus training too!

I have learned to listen, and understand what it means to be present with horses that responds not to what you say, but how you show up. This shaped how I work with people more than any textbook did.

I bring a blend of education, community work, and real lived experience into this practice. My role isn't to hand you a diagnosis or a checklist. It's to walk alongside you while we explore what's been shaped by time and experience, find the wisdom in your own story, and build toward the life and connection you're actually looking for.

I work with adults and teens 14+, I especially love working with people who are done surviving and are ready to start building.

Karmin Manning is a Master Practitioner Clinical Counsellor-provisional through the Canadian Professional Counselling Association (CPCA). She is also an Aboriginal Community Support Worker (ACSW), a Mindful Communication practitioner, and an Equine Guided Experiential Learning Coach, with over 30 years of horse experience, blending all of this into her work with clients.

When Karmin’s not working with clients you will find her hanging out on the farm with her kids, horses, goats and dogs. Maybe she is working on her latest farm project on her tractor, or maybe just maybe you’ll catch her with her feet up taking pictures of the beautiful place she calls home.

What a first session feels like

A place to land and be heard before anything else

Showing up with a new counsellor can feel vulnerable. You might not know where to start, what to say, or whether any of this will actually help. That’s normal. My job in that first session isn’t to have all the answers or ask too many, it’s to help you find your footing in the space.

Whether we are online or in-person we will get you set up comfortably, discuss the intake forms and what brought you in, settle into the space, get to know eachother and go from there.

We go slowly. I’m curious about your world, not just what’s brought you here, but how you experience things, how you move through your days, what matters to you. I listen for what’s behind the words. I check in. I reflect back what I’m hearing so you can tell me if I’ve got it right.

You’re not just the problems you came in here with. You’re a person, and this is your space. Most people leave that first session feeling something they didn’t quite expect, relief. Not because everything is solved. Because they felt heard, maybe for the first time in a long time.
